The Feathered Sleep

Amazing-Feather-Tattoo-Design-Idea

The feathered sleep you left me in

Everything one could ask for but then

This air-like slumber is disturbed

Since feathers carry sharpened spines

Each downy plume is spiked

They find my cheeks and neck

Pin pricks amidst suspended sleep

Like the lies wisped into your words

While my sleep was given in grace

This bed you made enticed by sin

Your last tangled caprice found me

With blood speckled skin again

The feathered sleep you left me in

Evidenced in your twisted grins

Caught me like a gift unaware

Your paradox of pleasure and pain

This poem was inspired by “The Feathered Sleep,” curated by Candice Louisa Daquin.
